Bully Prevention and Self Defense

This 90 minute class is meant for young adults male and female ages 12 to 14 who may be harassed or intimidated by others at school or off school grounds. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce tactics for prevention of physical harassment, diffusion of potentially hostile situations through verbal techniques and basic self-defense meant to deter attackers from a second attack.
Students will learn:
- basic underlying philosophy and principles of aikido
- how to avoid being targeted; dress, behaviors, body language.
- verbal techniques designed to diffuse potentially hostile situations
- rolling and falling techniques
- how to move out of the way to avoid being struck
- basic takedowns

Multnomah Aikikai hosts an Aikido seminar with Senseis Darrell Bluhm, 6th dan Shihan and Terri Teshiba, 6th dan, Shidoin
Bluhm Sensei is Chief Instructor of Siskiyou Aikikai in Ashland Oregon and a member of the Birankai North America Senior Council. Along with his credentials in Aikido, Bluhm holds teaching certification in Tai Chi Chuan and the Feldenkrais Method®
Teshiba Sensei is Chief Instructor of Aikido Institute of New Mexico in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, New Mexico. She serves as Chairperson of the Teachers' Council and the Examination Committee of Birankai North America.
